Poetic Dustbin

Netflix : Project Power – My Insight

This is not a full review even though I’ve watched the flick already. I don’t want to spoil EVERYTHING for those who haven’t 😀 .. just a little…

There… that’s my disclaimer…

A Bit of Synopsis

The film revolves around this “magical” pill that was engineered to give an individual super powers for 5 minutes. It could be super strength, invisibility, speed or anything that may resemble augmented abilities of animals.

Art (Jamie Foxx) is on the hunt for his daughter’s abductors who are connected to the whole “Pill” project. Frank (Joseph Gordon Levitt) is a cop who wants to clean his neighborhood off of that proliferating drug in which users use to commit crimes rendering police officers powerless to stop them. Frank, in turn had to use this pill to level the field in combating these criminals. Robin (Dominique Fishback) is a street smart kid who sell bits of this pill to help her mom’s medication. She’s a good friend of Frank who also buys from her.

The story intensified when the lives of these characters intertwined and shits happen. I won’t go into details now. No more spoilers. 😀

My Take on Project Power

Is it worth the time? Yes it is… considering the actors in the film. It’s a good watch. Entertaining at a certain level…

The movie lacks POWER to be interesting. Yes there are good thrilling action moments in the show but the curve was up and down. The formula of a superhero action movie was present but the villain was weak and the scenes at the end were a bit cheesy and predictable. The movie did not explore more on the PILL’s concept. I can also say that this could have been better done in a mini-series because the whole idea of Project Power is cool and I think it needs to be expanded and explained more. It’s like the story is on a rush to end and saying hey! The sequel will be better! :D…

Final Words…

Go watch! if you’re a fan or just needing some time-off from the busy WFH status… but if you’re a heavy critic, don’t spoil your hours nitpicking on the movie…
