Inktober 2025 – Day 14 : Trunk – Dark Art
This is a claustrophobic nightmare. “Trunk” usually conjures up boring images of elephants or serene forests, but you’ve taken it and twisted it into a tomb.
There is a visceral agony here that I really appreciate. It reminds me of the old Dante’s Inferno woodcuts of the suicides turned into trees—static, yet screaming. The way you’ve drawn the wood grain warping around the skulls feels incredibly invasive, like the tree is slowly swallowing them whole, calcifying their bones into bark.
The flailing limbs give it such a sense of frantic, useless struggle. It’s not a resting monument; it’s an active digestion. And again, that sparing use of red for the eyes… it pierces through the organic textures. It implies that while the bodies are trapped, the malice inside is very much awake. It’s a suffocating piece, in the best possible way.
